Freshly prepared homemade food using the best ingredients available is the hallmark of breakfast at The Carlton Inn, a Willamette Valley Bed & Breakfast. This means cooking with locally grown/raised foods whenever possible. Weekly farmers markets and honor system farm stands abound in the Oregon Wine Country area. My own garden also provides fresh herbs and vegetables that make their way into your breakfast foods. I use local farm fresh eggs (often from our neighbors!) that come in all different shapes, colors, and sizes. Carlton Farms is the source for breakfast sausage, ham and bacon. I make homemade yogurt using milk delivered by Moo-Man Home Delivery. Organic oats and other grains go into our homemade granola, while local hazelnuts add a wonderful sweet nuttiness to the granola, as well as to our pancakes.
Wake up to the enticing aroma of freshly brewed coffee from Mud River Coffee Roasters. Coffee and tea are available in the dining room at 8:00am. Breakfast is served at 9:00am beginning with a beautifully presented plate of fresh fruit or compote, accompanied by homemade yogurt and granola. Depending on the entrée, freshly made baked goods which may consist of blueberry scones with lemon peel, cherry almond muffins, or cinnamon coffee cake may accompany the first course. Served next is a hot entrée, possibly a frittata with roasted asparagus and wild mushrooms, a creamy polenta with sun-dried tomatoes, garnished with ham and bell peppers, a smoked salmon hash, or hazelnut, lemon curd pancakes accompanied by thick meaty bacon.
